This sprouting broccoli variety forms many purple florets on long, tender, green stems that do not bunch to form one main head. It requires cool weather to begin to bud is a treat to harvest while the rest of the garden is going dormant. Due to it’s large size, loose form and many side, shoots, you can harvest from ‘Santee’ for up to 5 weeks. The purple heads turn green when cooked.
Broccoli is a cool season crop that grows best in the spring or fall and does not tolerate summer heat. Prefers fertile, consistently moist, well-drained soil.
