Variety of Chinese cabbage that forms vase-shaped rosettes with white stalks and textured medium green leaves. The leaves and stalks are sweet with a subtle mustard flavor and are delicious in stir fries.
A cool season crop, Pak Choi is best planted in spring or fall to avoid the heat of summer which can cause the plant to bolt. Prefers consistent moisture in well-drained fertile soils. Drought will cause the plants to bolt and partial shade can help in particularly hot areas. Can be harvested as miniature or allowed to grow to full size.
