Also called “Bok Choy,” this green has long been a culinary favorite for adding succulent texture and a fresh mild mustard flavor to dishes. Leaves are dark green emerging from wide flattened petioles that pack together forming an 8-10″ head.
Cabbage is a cool season crop and should be planted for spring or fall seasons to avoid the heat of the summer which causes the plants to bolt. Partial shade in hot afternoon heat can help. Drought can also cause the plants to bolt. Prefers consistently moist, well drained soil rich in organic matter.
