Carex appalachica (Appalachian Sedge)

This native sedge has very narrow, weeping, mop top looking green foliage that forms small clumps with an airy appearance. Height 8-12".

Carex attracts bees, butterflies and birds to the garden. Prefers dry to medium well drained soil. Drought tolerant when established. Tolerates the most difficult dry shaded area. Intolerant of poorly drained soils. Turtles will eat the seed heads. Cool season grass. Deer and rabbit resistant.
