Shiny, green leaves with green, drooping, bristly flower spikes that will turn to a golden brown. Carex attracts birds and butterflies to the garden. Prefers moist to wet, standing water. Tolerates clay soil and shady areas. Spreads by rhizomes to form large colonies. Cool season grass. Deer resistant. Height 1-3′.
