Shiny, narrow, arching, evergreen light green leaves growing in dense clumps. Green flowers turns to erect, deep brown, bristly seed clusters. Height 1-3′.
Carex attracts birds and butterflies to the garden. Prefers damp to very wet soils. Drought tolerant when established. Tolerates heavy clay and wet areas. Spreads aggressively in the garden. Cool season grass. Deer resistant.
