A French heirloom variety prized for producing small romaine-type heads with blanched hearts and a ruffled open top. The flavor is buttery and mild and is perfect for fresh salads either as baby greens or grown to mature heads. Its small size means it finishes earlier in the season than larger head lettuces.
Lettuce prefers moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Lettuce performs best if planted in the spring or fall seasons and is protected from direct afternoon sun.
