Large maroon flowers with white markings on the petals that resemble delicate brush strokes. Flowers are 6-12″ in diameter.  Height 3-5′.

Paeonia attracts butterflies to the garden. Prefers fertile, medium moisture well drained soil. Paeonia suffruticosa  is a deciduous woody shrub, no pruning is required except for dead wood and deadheading spent flowers. Tolerant of heat. Deer and rabbit resistant.
