Named for the infamous black-bearded pirate, this perennial has incredible dark, eggplant purple foliage. Dark purple flower stems hold its lilac-purple flowers with white flaring tubes. Stays strictly upright all season long. Height 28-36".
Penstemon attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden. Prefers average, dry to medium well drained soil. Avoid wet poorly drained soil as it will rot. Drought tolerate when established. Tolerates heat, humidity, salts and cold.
